Organizations & Success Story
In the midst of the incredible hardship that comes from a lack of clean water, there are organizations out there dedicated to giving people drinkable water. Non-government organizations have been doing amazing things, from actually providing whole towns with water that they were in dire need of, to raising awareness so that people here in the United States can support the clean drinkable water effort. Some of these groups that are making things happen are Water Missions International and Living Water International. These are just two groups of many but they have played a major role in fighting this water crisis. Within these organizations there are many, many success stories.

Ryan's WellMany people are aware of the multiple global issues that confront us daily. Lack of time, finances and influence are all reasons why we feel we cannot make a difference. Seven-year-old, Ryan Hreljac , proves that there are few circumstances that are barriers to individuals affecting change!
In 1998, Ryan heard a news report that children in Africa are dying, everyday, due to unsafe drinking water. He began questioning his parents, "Why do they not have clean water? Mom, Dad we have a lot of water in the kitchen why do we not give them some?" Unsatisfied with his parent's responses, he decided to take action. What began as a local campaign, has sprung forth a global non-profit dedicated to providing safe drinking water to communities in Africa. By the time Ryan was 9 years old, Ryan's Well Foundation gave access to clean drinking water to over 789, 900 people! Ryan's Story is only one of such heroes. There are countless people working every day to provide water, a basic necessity to human life, all over the world. For more info please read the web site. |
